This is my tumblr. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
(Just a heads up for anyone who I follow: I have a habit of going through every page of someone's tumblr if I start following them, looking for things that amuse/interest me. I'm starting to realize that this might seem a bit creepy, so I apologize in advance.)

In an alternate universe, Ragland didn’t reconsider. He didn’t pull the gun from under his chin or pull the bullets from the chambers or call Beckett.

He did kiss his medallion, ask the Virgin for forgiveness, place the gun under his chin and pull the trigger.

His head flopped back as the gun fell from his hand and clattered to the floor.

McCalister found him a few hours later, when he showed up to watch a Yankee’s game. He assured the dispatcher it was a suicide, but a homicide team from the 12th was sent anyway, just to make sure.

McCalister made sure to look away when he laid eyes on Detective Kate Beckett.

Hal Lockwood followed Kate Beckett for the next week, making sure that she wasn’t digging into anything she shouldn’t be.

7 days after Ragland killed himself, Lockwood packed up his things and checked out of the hotel before disappearing into the wind.

Roy Montgomery slept fitfully for the next week. It had been years since he had heard from anyone about this mess, but with Ragland dead, he was just waiting for something to happen.

Only nothing did. Lockwood never came to visit him and neither did any other hit man.

He made his son come home from college that weekend though, and hugged his wife and daughters a little tighter for the next little while.

Kate dreamed of her mother for the first time since she killed Dick Coonan in the halls of the 12th precinct. She dreamed of her mother gathering her into her arms and hugging her tightly, kissing her on the top of the head before telling Kate how proud she was of her.

“That writer of yours, he’s a good man Katie,” Johanna had told her quietly. “A very, very good man.”

Kate woke up with tears on her face that morning and her mother’s words echoing in her brain.

Ryan did his best to forget the haunted look on Beckett’s face and he thought he was doing ok until he went home to Jenny that night. As soon as he stepped through the door and saw the look on her face, he knew he had failed. He let her hug him tightly, but she didn’t ask any question.

He loved her long and slow that night. Longer and slower than he ever had before and afterwards, he gathered her close and hung on. He wanted to tell her what had happened to Beckett that day and about what had happened to Beckett’s mother, but he knew she was safer if he didn’t.

So he kept quiet and Jenny did her best to make it easier for him.

Lanie had heard about what had happened through the grape vine and as soon as she saw Esposito, she knew it was true. She tried to slip past him, to call Beckett or just go to her, but he wouldn’t let her.

“There’s no one left,” Javier told her. “There is no one left for her to ask or question and she needs to deal with that.”

“Not alone she doesn’t,” Lanie had shot back. He arched an eyebrow at her and she sighed before letting him pull her phone and bag away from her.

Castle spends the week sleeping poorly and it takes him a while to realize that the last time he slept so poorly, he was grappling with the fact that Beckett had shot her mother’s killer so he could go home alive to his daughter and mother.

This week though, he slept poorly because he kept vacillating between sorrow for Beckett because the last living link to her mother’s murder was dead and happiness that Beckett was finally safe for mysterious hit men wanting to keep her silent.

He kept showing up at the precinct every morning though, with two cups of coffee and what he hoped was a comforting presence.

Jim Beckett slowly made the trek out to his wife’s grave that week, gently laying a small bouquet of white lilies on top of the head stone.

He spends some time updating Johanna on the happenings since he had last come to see her before expressing his relief that there was nothing left for Katie to chase.

“Just … make sure she knows she didn’t fail you,” he asked with a sad smile before saying his goodbyes and leaving as quietly as he had arrived.

Later that year, after she and Castle have been rescued from the freezer, Beckett realizes that she needs to cut Josh loose.

The fighting they’ve been doing over him constantly leaving to save the world suddenly doesn’t seem worth it anymore, especially when Castle opens his blanket and pulls her tight to his chest before wrapping her up again.

Ryan and Espo catch this out of the corner of their eyes and even though she knows they’re watching, she doesn’t care. Because her ear is over his chest, listening to his heart beat as his arm holds her tightly while he assures Alexis and Martha that they’re both ok.

When Memorial Day weekend rolls around again, Castle places a coffee cup and his phone with the beach front view from The Hamptons house on her desk. She stares at the phone for a long moment before he asks her to come up and celebrate with him. Martha will be off doing summer stock again and Alexis will be at the NYU summer program and Beckett flashes back to the last time he asked her.

She doesn’t hesitate to say yes this time.
