This is my tumblr. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
(Just a heads up for anyone who I follow: I have a habit of going through every page of someone's tumblr if I start following them, looking for things that amuse/interest me. I'm starting to realize that this might seem a bit creepy, so I apologize in advance.)

A commission that I’ve been working on this week between…well.. work.  A really great commissioner (rackthejipper) asked me to reimagine a Naga bro i drew a few years ago but this time have him fighting an amazonian lady.

So while drawing it i sorta came up with a star-crossed lovers scenario in my head.   Qetza (as i came to call him) is used to being worshipped by his fellow Naga warriors, being one of the strongest, bravest (read: brash and stupid) and instilling legends and awe in the humans they occasionally interact with.  The two races don’t have much contact, only glimpses of each other in rare instances.  However the humans are so struck by his majesty that they’ve started to view him as a God, and are sacrificing lives to appease him.  One of these lives was our amazon warrior’s sister, and she’s come for revenge.  Not only is Qet taken aback by such violence against him by a seemingly lesser race, he can’t imagine anyone not worshipping the ground he … slithers.. on.  Unable to best the other in battle, the two enter into a different kind of battle, one of curiosity and discovery.

Taboo relationships. Adorbs.  Also, happy valentine’s day?????  Try to stab your crush in the face today!!

posted this to the wrong blog… woops

Pastel Icebergs by Zaria Forman

Zaria Forman perfectly masters drawing with pastels. Recently, the artist reveals works representing icebergs. An impressive record, discovered in a series of beautiful images.

No way

Ceramic Sculpture Art by Christopher David White

“For me, there is a peace that can be found in even the simplest things – a decaying piece of wood, rusted metal, crumbling brick, the growth of moss and lichen. These ordinary elements within our environments offer both visual and physical reminders of our connection with nature. I am inspired by the small, overlooked aspects of our environment, finding enjoyment in the unexpected discoveries that come from simply being observant of the minutia and incorporating those mundane forms into my work.”

This impeccably detailed ceramic sculpture called Cycles of Decay was created by ceramicist Artist.
Even on close inspection the knotted and twisting veins of the tree branch look almost exactly like old wood.
Christopher David White-bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN (2008-2012).

I found some old art books today called ‘Celtic Art: The methods of Construction by George Bain’ Which, I found interesting. I only have 4 out of the 7, they are very old (From 55 years ago). I thought I would just share some scans from them, some people might find them useful. :)

Ohhhh horror vacui neat to see tutorials on it.

Part of the "Stones & Bones" Series

"I always varied pens but rarely drawing surfaces.
Out of paper for a short time, I turned to the two inert materials: stone and bone.
These inert materials seemed so ordinary!
This is not the case. They are still “living” materials: rough, bold, smooth, cracked, absorbent ….
Taming the variety of surfaces on a volume is a real adventure!

So I put aside the paper and canvas fabric to experiment with new drawing sensations.
Hand fits. The fingers feel every bumps. The spirit leaves guided by reliefs. The tip of the pen folds and unfolds. I even had the feeling that this matter thank me for taking care of.

Today, I look differently. I understand them differently.
This experience has enriched my own drawing skills.
The “inert and dead” matter, gave me some lessons.
The following images are the result.”

My take on the king god of Norse mythology. Got a little tired of seeing depictions of him as this old guy with a short white beard and golden armour. In the myths, Odin spent a great deal of his life travelling the world to learn and gain knowledge. The antlers were added because I think an ancient god should be a bit more “primal” than the stories made up by men in the viking age.
This is the design that will be used in a comic I am planning to make called The Eye of Odin.

Insomnia, 2013. Pillow, thread, paper, glass, glue, eyelashes.

One of my pieces from this past semester. I didn’t get any clear photos of it, but I think the best part is that in one of the eyes there is medical literature that says "Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because she has judged that the benefit to you outweighs the risk"

Dwarven Design Appreciation Posts  | 1 of 5: Patterns

My first reaction was - Oooh, pretty!

Then - so much geometric design @_@

Which lead to the thought of - wait, wouldn’t the dwarves be huge geometry geeks? They are engineers at heart, and that’s reflected in their art style. I kinda want to see a fic now where Bilbo is sort of rolling his eyes at the rough-and-tumble dwarves only to have them blow his mind with advanced mathematics that he can’t begin to follow. Like, someone like Dwalin or Bofur is a total math wiz, even amongst dwarves, and he’s maybe trying to work out how the whole pine-tree-over-the-cliff thing must have worked and Thorin kinda sidles up to add his two cents but is trying not to show how excited he is to be doing calculations again instead of stabbing things, and before you know it the entire company is geeking out over equations and Bilbo realizes that poor liberal arts/geography student that he is he has NO IDEA WHAT THEY’RE TALKING ABOUT.

OH MY GOD AVELERA PLEASE WRITE THIS it’s such a good idea! Why did no one think of this before? Maybe it’s an attractive trait for the dwarves, like, apart from fighting and forging, being a maths genius makes all the dwarf girls/boys swoon? Instead of whispering sweet nothing’s into your beloved’s ear it’s like talk long division to me, baby

Reason #265 I might be a dwarf:

I have the heart of an artist and the mind of an engineer. (in art school my nickname was MIT, hehe)

#look at their art though #LOOK AT THEIR ART #and dwarves and math #and dwarves and engineering #I want to know more about dwarf-doors #not just the magic that renders them invisible when closed #(though please tell me more about that yes ugh) #but the way they lock #in ways far more complicated than a simple bolt #the way some of those residences seemed to hang from the ceiling of the cavern #I want to see dwarves getting excited over scale models and prototypes and drafting paper #and the hydraulics or whatever it is that powers those fuckoff huge pendulum-hammers #dwarves dwarves dwarves dwarves dwarves #and their art though #!!!!!!! #my first love

YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST

math!dwarves and ereborean engineering and dwarven science art and durin!tech and just…
omg this fandom = the best fandom /joyful sobbing/
these headcanons are giving me so much life right now
because seriously have you looked at the ereborean throne room and all those semi floating walkways they have? (though I don’t really get how there aren’t a hundred deaths a season due to people falling off, but then again they might just have magnetic boots heh) if anything that is some expert understanding of statics at least

Lets not forget Physics!Bofur using a wee sausage to DISMANTLE AGE OLD ELF FURNITURE. Off to draw magnetic boots and water clocks for these furry little nerds. Who wants to bet they have some form of hydroelectricity too?

Bofur’s a toymaker though, imagine the kind of toys he could make!
