I just got back from the Mark Does Stuff event in Denver.
And it was awesome and fun and mentally scarring all at the same time. Because oh god the bad fiction was painful.
I was going to bring a book, actually. A book I had to read in middle school and I hated every god damn second of it. Nathaniel Hawthorne’s A Wonderbook For Boys And Girls. And god it was awful. Not only does the title sound really fucking creepy, but it’s an utter bastardization of all the greek myths. I mean, some of them aren’t so bad. But trying to make mythology kid-friendly is always a loosing game. And this…ugh.
But the fic that we did hear…
